Job Summary Step Down Unit Nurse Location unspecified. This position involves providing care to adult oncology and trauma patients within a dedicated step down unit. The role requires clinical expertise, adherence to unit policies, and the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Job Details
Certification requirements: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS, and ONS/ONCC (current preferred, not required).
Education and experience: Valid nursing license; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a similar setting.
Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
Position type: Full-time with the possibility of float assignments to other medical/surgical units, maintaining the same level of care.
Orientation: Two days of unit-specific training prior to start.
Responsibilities include titration of insulin and Cardizem drips, managing high-flow respiratory equipment, and ensuring exemplary patient care through hourly rounding and bedside reporting.
EMR system: EPIC; IV pumps: Alaris.
Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians.
Candidate requirements: Must have a valid drivers license, pass a clinical interview and manager interview with a pass/fail exam, and demonstrate minimum clinical competency.
Additional notes: Candidates should be comfortable managing common titratable drips and high-flow respiratory equipment.
