Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a registered nurse (RN) for a step down unit in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves working night shifts in an acute care setting, providing specialized post-surgical thoracic and medicine patient care. The position requires strong MedSurg step down experience, including the ability to titrate drips and interpret strips, with a focus on patient safety and effective monitoring.
Job Details:
- Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, beginning on 08/24/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as an RN; ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification; at least 2 years of relevant experience in MedSurg step down nursing.
- Preferred Qualifications: Ability to titrate drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix; experience with postoperative thoracic and medicine patients; certification in NIHSS.
- Patient Care Responsibilities: Manage post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients, including titration of drips and interpretation of EKG strips.
- Unit Details: No ventilators but includes BiPap and tracheostomy management; centralized telemetry monitors; four CNAs per shift; telehealth interpretation for RN assessments.
- Additional Details: The position involves working three weekend shifts in a four-week schedule and may include holiday work if necessary. The shift includes unit-specific orientation of three shifts. No call or standby requirements, and floating is rare.
- Certifications Needed: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
- Other Details: The position begins on 08/24/2026, with willingness to wait for license submission.
