Job Summary:
Cardiology Step Down Nurse in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing specialized care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients within a fast-paced, teamwork-oriented unit. The position offers an opportunity to work with complex cases in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit; ACLS, BLS certifications; NIHSS certification; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in cardiac/vascular units.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac/vascular patient care strongly preferred.
- Additional Information:
- Unit comprises 32 beds (all private), with 22 step-down and 12 floor beds.
- Step-down patient ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients; Floor patient ratio: 1 RN to 6 patients.
- Common diagnoses include post-operative cardiac surgery cases such as CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, heart transplants, TAVRs, and complex vascular procedures like AAA repair and femoral bypass.
- Nurses are required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and Dobutamine.
- The unit employs charge nurses and house supervisors 24/7; RT equipment includes Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow; monitor techs interpret strips using EPIC charting system.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute.
- Dress code: Solid royal blue and white.
