Travel RN – Neuro/Stroke Mixed Acuity

Nights | 13 Weeks | Manager Interview | No First-Time Travelers

 

  • 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend
  • Holiday rotation based on scheduled days
  • No call

Unit Snapshot

  • 16-bed mixed-acuity Neuro/Stroke unit
  • Average stay: 6–10 days
  • Approximately 2–3 discharges daily
  • RN ratio: 1:4–6 (acuity-based)
  • 2 CNAs every shift
  • Charge nurse carries a patient assignment

Patient Population

  • Acute stroke
  • Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
  • Neurology patients
  • Neurosurgery overflow
  • Post-tPA (24-hour monitoring)
  • Post mechanical thrombectomy patients
  • Frequent NIH Stroke Scale assessments

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience (3 years preferred)
  • No first-time travelers
  • BLS
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive neuro assessments
  • NIHSS
  • EKG rhythm interpretation
  • Phlebotomy
  • NG/Dobhoff tube placement
  • Port access
  • Heparin and Argatroban infusions
  • Care of patients on stable High Flow Oxygen and BiPAP
