  • Level 3 Trauma Center (388 facility beds)
• Beds:
  • 34 beds (unit)
• Patient Types / Common Diagnoses:
  • Cardiac & Vascular Care: MI, post-op open-heart surgery (including TAVR and fem-pop bypass within 24 hours), pre- and post-op open-heart patients (24–48 hours post-op), cardiac arrhythmias, Tikosyn therapy, pacemakers, ICDs, PCU-level patients, post-cardiac catheterization (femoral/radial with TR bands), carotid and thoracotomy patients transitioning from ICU, microvascular flap procedures, amputations related to vascular complications.
  • Cardiac Telemetry: Chest pain evaluation, stress testing, heart catheterization, arrhythmia management, percutaneous interventions, pacemaker upgrades.
• Patient Ratios:
  • 1:3–4
• EMR:
  • EPIC
• Floating Information:
  • Travelers are first to float to MedSurg units and ICU (to cover overflow assignment).

Job Requirements

• Experience Required:
  • 2 years of strong cardiac or PCU experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted: Yes
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
• Skills Required:
  • Care for cardiovascular patients, identify/interpret rhythms, epidurals, chest tubes
  • Cardiac Drip Management: Nitro, Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine (fixed rate), Dobutamine (fixed rate)
