Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/MedSurg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday requirements as scheduled
• Weekend positions are required for agency RN placements
• Expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for floor patients
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with a goal of 3 CAs per shift at a 1:10 ratio
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Must be able to manage 6-patient med-surg assignment or 3-patient step-down assignment
• EPIC charting experience is required
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, HiFlow, and ventilators in step-down (ventilator setting adjustments transfer to ICU)
• Remote telemetry surveillance center available with central monitoring on unit; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Philips telemetry monitoring equipment used on unit
• First to float or be pulled to other floor or step-down units
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of royal blue and white
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks
• BSN not required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)

Facility:

This acute care facility features a 29-bed step-down and med-surg unit currently under construction with all beds expected to be step-down equipped upon opening in the first quarter of 2026. The unit operates with charge RNs and house supervisors available 24/7, with the goal of maintaining a free charge RN at all times. The facility utilizes a remote telemetry surveillance center alongside central monitoring and employs Philips telemetry monitoring equipment to support comprehensive patient care.
