Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Unit, located in San Luis Obispo, California. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a step down unit, with responsibilities including interpreting ECG rhythms and managing care during life-threatening emergencies. The position requires supervision of ancillary personnel and adherence to clinical protocols. The position is represented by CNA.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week starting on 08/03/2026
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred), successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course (preferred), completion of Critical Care Course (preferred), 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience within the last 2 years, current RN license in the state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 6 months of hire, facility-specific BLS certification, AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification
  • Essential Functions: Providing appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations, interpreting ECG rhythms, managing care during life-threatening emergencies, verifying alarm settings, caring for patients post coronary intervention, managing patients post pacemaker and AICD placement, collaborating with healthcare team to develop multidisciplinary care plans, delegating tasks based on competency, documenting patient responses and care, performing safety and quality checks, and identifying opportunities for service improvement.
  • Additional Information: Float to medical-surgical units if needed; adherence to vaccination policies; participation in E-Verify.
