Opportunity:

PCU/Stepdown RN

Job Details:

• PCU/Stepdown unit with a 42-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Every other weekend required (Friday–Saturday for nights or Saturday–Sunday for days/evenings)
• No on-call required
• Block schedules not required
• Expected patient ratios of 1:4–5
• 48-hour shifts approved
• Must be able to manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips — this is a hard stop requirement
• May float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if unit is overstaffed
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib RVR, Chest Pain R/O MI, heart cath, and cardiac drip management
• Required skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, arterial blood gas interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, pacemaker management, PICC line management, sheath removal, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
• Special equipment includes cardiac monitoring systems and cardiac drip management equipment
• Charting system is Epic — experience required
• Scrub color: any color for RNs
• No parking fee
• Minimum of 1 year of PCU/Stepdown experience with cardiac drip experience required
• Charge experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
• Candidates may choose one holiday — either Thanksgiving or Christmas — but cannot have both off

This is a short-term acute care facility and Level II Trauma Center with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation. With 629 total staffed beds, this teaching hospital offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
