Job Summary:
Step Down Unit registered nurse (RN) position located in an acute care setting. This 12-hour night shift role involves providing specialized care to adult patients with various diagnoses including cardiac, renal, and post-procedural cases. The position emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, scheduled from 06:30 PM to 06:30 AM, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse (RN); Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Open to candidates with at least 0 years of experience.
• Department: Step Down Unit with 40 beds and an average daily census of 24, serving adult patients with conditions such as cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure.
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 on days and nights, with a patient care tech ratio of 1:12.
• Certifications: Must be competent in managing arterial lines and titrating Drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
• Responsibilities: Read and interpret telemetry strips, troubleshoot high-flow oxygen devices, and manage titratable drips.
• On-shift Leadership: A charge nurse is present on each shift and may take assignments.
• Additional Requirements: Floating to Medical-Surgical or ICU units as needed; adherence to dress code (Navy Blue); participation in unit orientation (1 day); focus on patient experience, communication, and responsiveness.
• Notes: Overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners are available on the unit. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity, serving primarily Hispanic and Somali populations.

• Other: Upfront RTO (Request To Leave) of 7 days or less per 13-week contract is required; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
