Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Unit located in Omaha, Nebraska. This position involves providing high-quality care to adult patients in a dedicated step down setting. The role requires clinical expertise, strong patient advocacy, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license to practice in the state of Nebraska; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; current certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in step down or telemetry units is desirable.
- Float: Float to other medium and step down units may be required; float assignments will remain at the same level of care.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes two days of unit-specific training. Nurses may occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips; common medications include chemotherapy agents, Heparin, and Protonix. Equipment used includes high-flow respiratory devices and EMR systems, specifically Epic. Support staff consists of nursing assistants, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians. The unit emphasizes patient experience through hourly rounding and bedside shift reports.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and ONC (current preferred, not required).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
