Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Med/Surg Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RNs to join a high-volume hospital system. The unit has historically operated at a 1:7 patient ratio, and additional travelers are being added to help improve staffing levels and reduce the patient ratio as vacancies are filled.

The ideal candidate should be highly skilled in managing telemetry patients, complex cardiac drips, central lines, chest tubes, drains, trachs, CBIs, and other high-acuity clinical needs.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent relevant RN experience
• Med/Surg Telemetry and/or PCU experience
• At least 1 completed travel contract preferred
• Strong cardiac and telemetry skills
• Experience managing complex patients and multiple lines/drains

Required Clinical Skills

Candidates must have experience with:

Lines, Tubes & Drains

• Chest tubes
• Femstops
• Trachs
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
• Drains
• Central lines

Cardiac & Critical Medications
Experience administering and, where applicable, titrating:

• Amiodarone
• Cardizem
• Nitroglycerin
• Insulin
• Heparin
• Dopamine
• Dobutamine
• Isuprel
• Milrinone
• Argatroban

Some medication titration is required.

Certifications

• BLS – AHA
• ACLS – AHA

License Requirements

• Illinois RN license in hand required
• Iowa license required/available through offer process
• Compact license accepted
• Candidates with an IL license must apply for an Iowa license at the time of offer

Submission Requirements

The candidate profile must include:

• Driver's License
• Updated resume/work history
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
• License verification
• Copies of required certifications
• 1 supervisory reference at time of submission

Radius & Eligibility Requirements

• Candidate must have a taxable address outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Candidate must not have been an employee of UnityPoint within the previous 12 months

Contract & Schedule

• 8-, 10-, or 13-week contracts
