Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to stepdown patients with conditions like heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
- Titrate intravenous drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro according to protocols
- Interpret telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with charge nurse and interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced unit with high admission and discharge volume
- Float to ICU as needed if qualified and experienced
- Mentor and support patient care techs and new team members
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa or compact state
- Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown/PCU experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry
- Valid driver's license (required at submittal for radius check)
- Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and patient-oriented approach
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system
- Skill in managing cardiac drips and monitoring patients on CPAP
- Strong critical thinking and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to adapt to floating requirements
