Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care on an adaptive acuity PCU unit, adjusting to med-surg and telemetry needs
  • Manage IV drips safely and effectively, including insulin, esmolol and sodium drips
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and patient status, intervening promptly when changes occur
  • Float between inpatient units as needed while practicing within your scope to support unit staffing
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hospitalists and specialty clinics, to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure continuity of care during shift handoffs
  • Support unit-level quality and safety initiatives and participate in required orientation and competency checks

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Vermont RN license or Compact RN license (must be uploaded with profile)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification (required)
  • Minimum 2+ years current med-surg/telemetry experience (required)
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (strongly required)
  • Required drip experience (insulin, esmolol, sodium drips) — non-negotiable
  • Minimum 3 months prior travel nursing experience (required)
  • Willingness to float to any inpatient unit within scope of practice
  • Traveler must have own vehicle and include permanent address in profile
  • One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years (required)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven med-surg and telemetry assessment skills
  • Progressive Care Unit/PCU clinical knowledge and patient management
  • IV/drip management and infusion pump competency
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in adaptive acuity settings
  • Experience working in small/critical access facilities or ICU (preferred)
  • Charge nurse experience and leadership skills (preferred)
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
