Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience; CV and Pediatric experience required; VAD experience highly preferred License: RN License (State Licensure or Multi-State/Compact License) Certifications: PALS, BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: Prior experience in pediatric cardiac care; knowledge of VADs and pediatric cardiac surgeries Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Shifts will be scheduled for three 12-hour periods from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. The nurse will care for patients with congenital heart diseases of various ages. Patient ratios will typically be 1:1 or 1:2, depending on patient acuity. Weekend coverage includes four weekend shifts over a four-week schedule and holiday rotation. The unit provides care for patients undergoing various procedures related to pediatric cardiac conditions. Common interventions include cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, heart transplants, and cardiac catheterizations. The unit also offers complex supportive therapies including ECMO and CRRT. A collaborative multidisciplinary team is available to support patient care. The average daily census on the unit is 26 patients, within a 29-bed capacity. Continuous hemodynamic monitoring and care of ventilated patients are integral to the role. Successful candidates will possess strong critical thinking and clinical skills in a pediatric setting.
