Job Title: CVPICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required. License: SC or Multi State/Compact RN license required. Certifications: PALS and BLS required. ACLS preferred. Must-Have: Experience with cardiac and pediatric patients is essential. Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience is highly preferred. Description: The Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit is a 29-bed unit focusing on patients with congenital heart disease of any age. The average daily census on the unit is 26, with a mix of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses. Cares for patients requiring complex cardiac interventions including cardiac surgery, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and medical diagnoses related to pediatric cardiac care. Provides advanced therapies such as ECMO and CRRT. Pediatric palliative care is available as needed. The staffing includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries with support from Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacists. All beds are monitored, emphasizing safe patient care and optimal outcomes. The unit offers a high nurse-to-patient ratio based on patient acuity. Weekend shifts are required, totaling 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule. Optional block scheduling may be accommodated at the manager's discretion. RTO must be disclosed prior to offer, and approved based on the needs of the unit. All candidates should be prepared for potential emergency response assignments during adverse weather conditions. Candidates must complete all required compliance documents in a timely manner prior to the start date. This position is open to first-time travelers. All candidates must possess the relevant skills for caring for ventilated patients, managing chest tubes, and administering IV vasopressors. Experience in pediatric cardiac care and associated procedures is essential for success in this role.
