Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience; CVICU and NICU experience preferred; Must have level 1 experience License: Current RN License; Current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support; PALS Must-Have: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients; observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Communicates effectively with patients and visitors, responding to their cultural and language needs. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Demonstrates organizational, planning, coordination, and evaluation skills related to nursing services. Possesses some computer skills.
