Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct critical care nursing to pediatric patients (infants, pediatrics, and adolescents) in a high-acuity PICU environment with variable acuity and stepdown capability across a 19-bed unit
Manage advanced vascular access including IV therapy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, port access, and administration of blood products and TPN/Lipids
Administer and monitor complex pharmacological therapies including IV vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, anti-seizure medications, insulin, and pediatric dosage calculations
Manage and maintain acute airways including ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, tracheostomy care, suctioning, and chest tube management
Monitor telemetry, assist with lumbar punctures, manage gastric/NG tubes, perform wound assessment and care, and maintain isolation precautions and PPE protocols
Float within skillset to appropriate units (stepdown, pediatrics, NICU) as needed based on census, acuity, and staffing; participate in holiday coverage as required by unit policy
Required Qualifications
Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
Required certifications: BLS and PALS
Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience; experience must be documented on skills checklist
EPIC EMR experience required
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Preferred Experience / Skills
At least 1 year of pediatric cardiac experience strongly preferred and must be documented on skills checklist
Experience with Medtronic pacemakers, peritoneal dialysis/CAPD, pre/post hemodialysis, and hydrocephalus/VP shunt management
Familiarity with the Broselow system for pediatric emergency dosing
Experience caring for patients across a range of acuity levels including stepdown and NICU populations
