Travel Nurse RN - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Tacoma, WA

Registered Nurse – PICU/PCICU (12-Hour Nights)

Contract | Full-Time | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Rotation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a mixed PICU/PCICU patient population including neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical cases, with a predominant focus on PCICU patients such as congenital heart defects, fresh open hearts, post-cath, CHF, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, and post-cardiac arrest
• Manage ventilators, trachs, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, and drip management in a high-acuity pediatric setting
• Perform central line dressing changes and care, central line blood draws, peripheral lab draws, foley insertion and management, and G/GJ/J-tube and NG tube management
• Apply aseptic and sterile technique, perform basic dressing changes, and support patients through discharge
• Float as needed to MedSurg, ED, NICU Helping Hand, or sitter roles
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience, with at least 1 year in a PCICU setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac patients, cardiovascular/thoracic surgeries, and related diagnoses
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ECMO experience (ECMO specialist will manage the machine; bedside RN support role)
• CRRT experience, specifically with Prismax
• Prior experience with EPIC EMR
• Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills with a quick-learning, engaged approach to patient care
