Registered Nurse – PICU/PCICU (12-Hour Nights)

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (1900–0730) | Every Other Weekend Rotation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a mixed PICU/PCICU setting with a predominant focus on pediatric cardiac patients, including congenital heart defects from post-surgery through discharge
• Manage a broad range of critical care interventions including ventilator and trach management, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, drip management, and central line care
• Care for patients across cardiovascular, thoracic, respiratory, surgical, neurological, and medical diagnoses including fresh open hearts, post-cath, CHF, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, and post-cardiac arrest
• Perform aseptic and sterile technique, basic dressing changes, G/GJ/J-tube and NG tube management, Foley insertion and management, and peripheral and central line blood draws
• Support floating assignments to MedSurg, ED, NICU Helping Hand, or sitter roles as needed
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience, with at least 1 year in a PCICU setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Proficiency with cardiac patient care, post-surgical management, and critical care procedures as outlined in responsibilities
• Strong soft skills including critical thinking, time management, adaptability, and engagement

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ECMO experience (ECMO specialist will manage the machine; bedside RN support only)
• CRRT experience with Prismax (low volume; typically assigned to core staff)
• Experience with EPIC EMR
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers are accepted
