Pay: $2,500/week
Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
Radius Rule: 50 miles
Position OverviewWe are seeking a strong Registered Nurse (RN) to work in a mixed MedSurg/Telemetry & Pediatrics unit. This role requires flexibility to care for both adult and pediatric patients, with floating based on census needs.
Required Qualifications- Active RN License (AZ or Compact) – Required
- BLS, ACLS & PALS – Required
- Experience working with pediatric and adult patients – Required
- Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam (2 attempts allowed prior to contract signing)
Unit Details- 10-bed mixed unit (Pediatrics + MST)
- Patient Ratios:
- Pediatrics: 1:3–4
- Adult MST/Telemetry: 1:5
- Charge RN oversees ~50 inpatient beds (MST, PEDS, MCU)
Patient Population- Adult Surgical Cases:
- Total hip/knee replacements
- Small bowel resection
- Hysterectomy, exploratory lap
- Adult Medical Cases:
- MRSA, C-diff
- COPD, pneumonia, COVID
- Chest pain (telemetry patients)
- Pediatrics (MedSurg Level):
- RSV, influenza, COVID
- Seizures (chronic)
- Dehydration, appendectomy, FTT
- No vents/trachs/feeding tubes (stabilize & transfer if needed)
Key Responsibilities- Provide care for both adult and pediatric patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms
- Assist in stabilizing higher-acuity patients for transfer
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Float to other units based on census needs
Equipment & Support- Remote Monitor Techs available
- RNs responsible for tele strip interpretation
- Pediatric bedside monitors
- RT Support: High-flow oxygen, BiPAP (stable chronic patients)
Staffing & Support- Nurse Aides (NA): Typically 10 patients per NA
- If no NA: RN assumes reduced patient load with primary care responsibilities
Scheduling & Requirements- 12-hour shifts (0700–1930 / 1900–0730)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays
- Standby: Possible during low census (rotational)
Floating Requirements- Float to:
- MST / MCU units (adult care)
- Birthing unit (mom-baby couplets)
- May float to L&D only if experienced
- Will not float to West Campus
Orientation & Dress Code- Orientation: Hospital + unit-specific (based on experience)
- Scrub Color: Navy
