Pediatric Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 20-Week Contract in Charlotte, NC

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families as a Pediatric Travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Charlotte, North Carolina. This on-site, 20-week travel nursing assignment supports a 38-bed pediatric unit caring for patients from neonates through adolescents, including pediatric medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients. Pediatric Travel Nurse Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,490–$1,570
• Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Assignment Duration: Approximately 20 weeks, ending March 1, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts
• Shift: Day shift, 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: None
• Patient Population: Ages 0–17, including pediatric medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5–6
• Floating: Must be willing to float to PICU and NICU as needed
• Charting: EPIC
• Orientation: 24 hours, plus required hospital orientation during the first week

Pediatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent pediatric nursing experience required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a Compact state; pending license may be considered for submission
• Current BLS certification
• Current PALS certification
• Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy
• Experience caring for pediatric oncology patients
• Strong skills in peripheral IV insertion, phlebotomy, port care, and central or implanted line management
• Ability to care for patients across the neonatal, infant, pediatric, and adolescent age groups
• Willingness to comply with required pre-start testing and orientation activities
• Seasonal influenza vaccination is required; medical or religious exemptions may be considered

Pediatric Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to pediatric medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer chemotherapy and monitor patients for therapeutic response and adverse reactions
• Perform medication administration, pediatric assessments, IV starts, lab draws, and line care
• Manage ports, central lines, implanted lines, and peripheral vascular access according to established standards
• Maintain appropriate isolation precautions and use personal protective equipment correctly
• Communicate changes in patient condition to providers and the interdisciplinary care team
• Document care accurately in EPIC and use unit communication tools, including SBAR
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, physical therapy, interpretation services, and other support departments
• Float to PICU or NICU when assigned and support safe patient care across the pediatric service line
