Job Title: RN - Pediatrics Hematology and Oncology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in pediatric hematology/oncology acute care or 1 year in pediatric acute care License: Active Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, PALS preferred Must-Have: Strong pediatric assessment and critical thinking skills; central line management; chemotherapy administration Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Pediatrics Hematology and Oncology specialty. The role involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell crisis, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, and general adolescent medicine. Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-5 for registered nurses and 1:6-16 for CNAs. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs and ADLs, as well as a receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomist, and IV/VAT team for difficult peripheral access. There is availability of resource nurses and hospitalists to assist 24/7. The EMR system utilized is Epic, and there are specific unit monitors and equipment. The culture of the unit is team-oriented, supportive, and family-centered, with a strong emphasis on professional growth, education, and safety. There is a weekend rotation requirement, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
