Description:
Start Date: 8/3
Work Schedule: 2 shifts of 8 hours and 2 shifts of 10 hours per week.
PACU shift schedules Monday through Friday with start times fluctuating between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM.
Thursdays always start at 8:30 AM.
Patient populations seen include a variety of cases.
Short procedures performed include EGDs, BMTTs, MRIs, T&As, DLBs, and others.
Bigger cases include Pectus Excavatum Repair, Spinal Fusions, Cardiac Caths, EVDs, Breast Reductions, and Orthopedic procedures.
Skills required include the ability to manage arterial lines, trachs, home vents, precedex drips, chest tubes, drains, and foleys.
Focus areas include airway management, scoring (Modified Aldrete Score), assessment/vital signs, medication administration, and discharge teaching.
Phase 1 care involves 1 on 1 nursing with patients and monitoring every 15 minutes.
Phase 2 care may involve 1 on 1 or 1 RN to 4 patients in Stepdown with monitoring at least every hour to prepare for discharge.
Communication skills are essential for collaboration with anesthesiologists and surgeons regarding medication orders, discharge instructions, wound issues, and radiology orders.
