Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring MO or compact RN license and 2 years of PICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a General Pediatric ICU setting within a teaching hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Blocked scheduling available (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
  • 36 or 48 hour contracts available
  • Cerner charting system preferred
  • Mandatory floating required, including as a Patient Observer (sitter) anywhere in the organization
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Weekend work required

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • TNCC certification preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and arterial line management, PICC line management, and administration of blood products
  • Experience with emergency medications including antiarrhythmics and IV vasopressors
  • Pediatric dosage calculation skills required
  • Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned

Additional Information

  • Provide direct pediatric critical care nursing to acutely ill children
  • Work in a healthcare facility operating 24/7/365, including during inclement weather
  • Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted, with those residing 51-74 miles away offered a local rate and those within 50 miles not eligible for consideration
  • Local candidates are not eligible for contract extensions beyond the initial assignment
  • Travelers may work up to three consecutive 13-week contracts (up to 9 months), followed by a mandatory 6-month break before returning in an agency capacity
