Position Details

• Position: PICU RN
• Shift: Day – 3×12 hours
• Hours: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
• Daily Census: 20
• Beds: 23
• Rooms: 23
• Charting: Epic preferred, but not required
• Local candidates: Accepted at the same rate
• Travel experience: Not required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years experience – REQUIRED
• PICU experience – required
• 1 year experience is also listed in the job requirements.
• Trauma Level I experience – preferred
• Trauma Level II experience – preferred
• Previous charge experience – not required

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS

Copies of certifications are not required at submission, according to the posting.

License

Ohio or Compact RN license must be IN HAND at submission.

• Ohio license required at submission
• No exceptions
• Pending Ohio license is not accepted

VERY IMPORTANT – Floating

⚠️ Floating is REQUIRED.

The traveler must be willing to float to:

• Akron main campus
• Summa location
• Other competent acute-care inpatient units
• NICU

The PICU sees a broad range of patients and does not have a dedicated cardiothoracic or trauma unit. These patients are treated in the PICU.

Experience includes:

• ECMO
• CRRT
• Post-op cardiac patients
• Neurosurgery
• Ventilated patients
• PICU care
• Infection control/PPE
• Wound assessment/care

Important Facility Requirements

• BSN required for consideration
• Magnet facility
• References required; one reference is enough to submit
• No radius restriction
• RTO required
• Strict DO NOT call policy
• No limit on number of jobs that can be submitted in the system
• Prior Akron employees can return as travelers if they are not currently active employees
• Background hits should be disclosed before submission; client typically reviews/approves them.
