Job Summary: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN opportunity available at a healthcare facility in the region. The position entails providing specialized care for pediatric patients, particularly those requiring open-heart surgery and advanced congenital heart disease management. This role is suitable for experienced pediatric critical care nurses with a strong background in pediatric open-heart procedures and congenital cardiac surgeries.
Job Details:
Schedule: Rotating shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in the applicable state or a compact license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, and a minimum of 5 years of Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience with pediatric open-heart surgery exposure. Candidates must have pediatric open-heart experience with knowledge of PAP, CVP, IABP, ECMO, Continuous Veno-Venous Dialysis (CVVD), Chest tubes, Arterial Lines (Aline), and be capable of taking fresh open-heart patients directly from operating room.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with newborn or neonatal critical care, exposure to congenital heart surgery with appropriate post-operative management.
Additional Information: The role currently involves caring for five beds in a Pediatric CVICU setting, with approximately 3-4 cases weekly, and the unit is expanding. Initially, staff will be 1:1 for the first 24 hours with a transition to 1:2 if the patient is stable. Candidates must possess pediatric open-heart and congenital heart surgery experience specific to pediatrics; adult CVICU experience is not applicable.
