Job Summary
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse in San Francisco, California. This position involves providing specialized care for pediatric patients in a busy hospital environment. The role requires a dedicated RN with pediatric and critical care experience to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care across diverse age groups, including neonates, adolescents, infants, and adults.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours each shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (Basic Life Support), AHA (American Heart Association) certification, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification, minimum of 3 years of Pediatric and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (PICU/CVICU) experience, and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience, and specific pediatric critical care certifications as listed.
  • Certifications and skills include: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, blood and blood product administration, anti-seizure medications, arterial line management, intubation support, ventilator management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, PICC line management, and pediatric-specific procedures such as nasal and gastric tube insertion, tracheostomy care, and management of ventricular assist devices.
  • Unit details: The role encompasses support for interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and social services. The patient population includes neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults with diverse diagnoses, requiring flexibility and extensive critical care skills.
  • Schedule specificities: 12-hour rotating shifts with at least 36 hours worked per week. Travel or float reassignments within a 75-mile radius may be required at any time to meet operational needs.
  • Additional notes: Successful candidates must have completed required modules prior to start and meet all licensing and certification prerequisites before the specified start date of 09/01/2026. RTO (Return to Office) requests are disclosed at submittal and need approval in advance.
