Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2.5+ years of acute care experience and an active NJ or Compact RN license.

Details

• High-acuity 20-bed PICU providing care for critically ill infants through young adults at an academic pediatric hospital
• Manages complex medical and surgical cases including congenital heart disease, post-operative cardiothoracic patients, respiratory failure, sepsis, and trauma
• Patient population includes adolescents, infants, and pediatric patients across PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, and med/surg mix units
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2, varying by unit, census, patient acuity, and staffing
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within skillset to PICU, NICU, Peds, Stepdown, Intermediate units, and PHOC (Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic)
• EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2.5 years of acute care experience, specifically in PICU
• Skilled in ventilator management, CVVH, and vaccine administration
• Experienced in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• CRRT and ICP monitoring experience preferred
• Patient transport experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing within a multidisciplinary team alongside continuous on-site pediatric intensivist coverage
• Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Peds-friendly scrub top with navy blue bottoms required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
