Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30; 17:00 - 05:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year in critical care or Level I Trauma Center License: Pending License accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Ventilator Management, IV Start, Telemetry, Critical Care Must-Have: Proficiency in managing complicated postoperative patients. Ability to handle multiple drains and vasoactive drips. Experience with mechanical ventilation and recovery from general anesthesia. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records systems. Successful completion of required EKG exam. Description: The position involves providing nursing care in the PACU setting. Nurses are responsible for pre-operating patients for first cases when necessary. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:2. No weekend coverage is required. Call duty entails 24 hours within a 6-week schedule period. The patient population includes surgical patients with complex needs. Nurses may need to manage multiple complex patients concurrently. Critical thinking and rapid assessment skills are vital in this role. Team collaboration with interdisciplinary staff is essential for patient care. Advanced skills in dysrhythmia recognition and management are required. Travelers are expected to float within the service line to meet patient needs. This role requires a proactive approach to patient management and care. Successful applicants must demonstrate relevant experience and competencies.
