Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions
• Perform detailed post-operative assessments, including airway, neurological status, pain management, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Monitor vital signs and identify changes in patient condition requiring immediate intervention
• Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, pain management therapies, and other post-operative treatments
• Manage post-anesthesia complications, including respiratory distress, nausea, vomiting, bleeding, and pain control
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, operating room staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe patient recovery
• Educate patients and families regarding recovery expectations, discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and PACU protocols
• Participate in patient transfers to inpatient units or discharge planning as appropriate
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting a safe and efficient recovery process

Requirements

• Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification required
• PALS Certification preferred or required depending on facility
• Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery, airway management, pain management, and emergency response
• Experience caring for adult surgical patients in an acute care hospital
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Excellent communication, assessment, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced perioperative environment
