Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU (Shock Trauma) | ICU Experience Required

Location: 22 S Greene St, Baltimore, MD 21201, United States
Travel Contract | 12 Weeks with possible extesnion | 36 Hours/Week

Job Overview

The Shock Trauma PACU at University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled PACU RN with strong ICU experience. This is a high-acuity, fast-paced unit supporting trauma patients across surgical services—not a typical PACU.

Schedule
  • 12-hour shifts (3x/week)
  • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Night: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Alternating shifts (straight nights may be considered)
  • Weekends: 3 shifts every 4 weeks
  • On-call required: 1–2 shifts per 6-week schedule
Unit Highlights
  • 12-bed Shock Trauma PACU
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Adult & geriatric population
  • Supports R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center
  • Exposure to high-acuity trauma and surgical overflow cases
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced post-anesthesia care for trauma patients
  • Manage ventilated patients and airway support
  • Titrate vasopressors and critical drips
  • Administer blood products and perform fluid resuscitation
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic status
  • Collaborate across trauma, ICU, and surgical teams
Clinical Skills Needed
  • Ventilator management & airway care
  • ABG interpretation
  • Central lines, arterial lines, IV therapy
  • Post-op recovery across multiple specialties
  • Emergency response & critical care interventions
Additional Details
  • Floating required within PACU, ICU, and related units
  • Must be flexible with scheduling and assignments
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Local candidates (within 50 miles) not accepted
