Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active California state license required; pending licenses not accepted Certifications: Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, CCRN*, PALS, CPAN* Must-Have: - Inpatient acute PACU experience - Previous charge experience preferred - Patient care skills in surgical, procedural, trauma, and various specialties Description: This position is for a registered nurse in the PACU specialty. Responsibilities include providing nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The average daily census is 25-30 patients, with a patient ratio of 2:1 during day shifts. The nurse will float to other departments as needed, including ASC and HH. Call shifts may be required once a week. Weekend coverage is not required. Candidates must possess strong assessment and critical thinking skills. Experience with abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, arterial line management, and ventilated patient care is preferred. Demonstrated ability to recognize and manage dysrhythmias is essential. Familiarity with surgical procedures is required, including orthopedic, neurovascular, and thoracic procedures. Ability to work with various age groups, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics, is necessary. Interdisciplinary support services will be available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The position requires flexibility and a willingness to work in a dynamic environment. Travelers must be willing to work during major holidays as requested. References covering at least one year of experience within the last three years will be requested during the hiring process. Completion of annual training modules is necessary to maintain compliance. Candidates are expected to handle communication devices required for the role at no cost to them.
