Job Description

Job Opportunity – Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day/Evening shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am - 10:30am. Primarily 8-hour shifts with some 10-hour shifts. May require flexibility to stay past scheduled shift to complete the day's surgical schedule. No weekend coverage required.

  • Manage 2-3 patients in both Phase I PACU and Pre-Op settings
  • Comprehensive case mix including general surgery, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, and trauma cases
  • Monday-Friday schedule with two pre-approved time-off periods available
  • No call or weekend requirements

Requirements:

  • Active RN license in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in perioperative nursing
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • CCRN certification strongly preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Must successfully complete telemetry competency exam with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • Must reside 50+ miles from facility
  • Floating to other units as needed

Essential Skills:

  • Pre-operative assessment, education, and medication administration
  • Phase I and Phase II recovery care
  • Airway management and conscious sedation monitoring
  • Central line, PICC line, and chest tube management
  • Blood product administration and anticoagulation therapy
  • Pain assessment with PCA pump management
  • Emergency medication administration and reversal agents
  • Proficiency with nerve blocks, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and procedural sedation
