Description:
This position is for a prep/recovery unit for patients post catheterization and vascular procedures.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Critical Care, PACU, or CCU experience.
The unit has a combined total of 12 beds and sees 17-20 patients a day.
Typically, the same nurse provides care before and after procedures for continuity.
Patient types and common diagnoses include right and left heart catheterizations, structural heart procedures, and vascular interventions.
Patients in this unit may receive moderate sedation and are likely more awake and alert than in a typical PACU.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3, depending on the type of patient.
Required skills include performing neurovascular checks, managing access sites, and handling patient care with minimal equipment.
Post-anesthesia experience is important, as is managing some BP issues if necessary.
It is rare to encounter ventilators, but occasional exposure to advanced monitoring equipment may occur.
Support within the department includes the availability of respiratory therapy 24/7 and nursing leadership.
The technology used includes EMR systems and standard monitoring equipment.
Floating to other procedural areas may be possible based on management discussions.
There are no weekend rotations, on-call requirements, or major holiday expectations.
Requests for time off will be approved by management, and shifts are primarily during weekdays.

Repeat travelers are common and frequently welcomed back.
