Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Day). May require 1-2 on-call evening shifts 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM and every-other-weekend coverage 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Rotating / On-call)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality pre-op and post-op nursing care for ambulatory and inpatient surgical patients
  • Perform thorough pre-op assessments and patient education, including medication reconciliation and consent verification
  • Monitor patients in Phase I PACU and Phase II recovery using cardiac monitoring, ETCO2, and serial assessments
  • Manage advanced airway needs, assist with intubation support, and care for ventilated patients as required
  • Administer and monitor procedural sedation, IV therapies, blood product administration, and reversal agents safely
  • Recognize and intervene for dysrhythmias and other acute changes — act quickly and communicate clearly
  • Start and maintain IVs, manage PICC lines and ports, and support chest tube and fresh tracheostomy care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Pharmacy, Respiratory, PT, Radiology, Social Services) to optimize patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families on discharge instructions, follow-up, and recovery expectations
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state licensure required)
  • Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required; ICU or ED experience preferred
  • Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system (Epic experience required)
  • Demonstrated skills in airway assessment, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and cardiac monitoring
  • Comfort with procedural sedation monitoring, interpretation of ABGs, and arterial line care (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Pre/post-operative patient care and discharge instruction
  • Phase I PACU and Phase II recovery management
  • Conscious sedation, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), general anesthesia familiarity
  • Airway management, intubation support, and ventilator patient care
  • IV access skills: start/maintain IVs, PICC care, phlebotomy
  • Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition/management, arterial line basics
  • Chest tube management and interpretation of ABGs
  • Familiarity with a wide range of surgical cases: general, gyn, ortho, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmology
