Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric and adult patients during the immediate post-anesthesia (Phase I PACU) recovery period
• Perform advanced assessments and apply critical thinking to promote physiologic stability following ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), and head and neck surgical procedures
• Identify and manage post-operative complications in a timely and clinically appropriate manner
• Care for patients across a range of surgical complexity, including routine outpatient procedures, pediatric otolaryngology, complex airway procedures, microvascular reconstruction, and head and neck oncologic surgery
• Facilitate safe patient transitions to Phase II recovery, inpatient units, or intensive care settings based on individual clinical needs

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts or compact licensure eligibility
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience in post-anesthesia care or a related acute care nursing setting
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills in a fast-paced surgical environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Phase I PACU experience with both pediatric and adult patient populations
• Familiarity with complex airway management and post-operative care for head and neck surgical patients
• Experience supporting patients recovering from oncologic or microvascular reconstruction procedures
• ACLS certification preferred
