Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (combination of shifts between 0500–2030, must include at least one 0800–2030 shift per week) | On-call required for weekends and hospital-recognized holidays with a one-hour response time
Key Responsibilities
Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia recovery care as well as moderate sedation recovery for outpatient and inpatient populations
Care for patients recovering from a high volume of cardiac procedures including heart catheterizations, EP procedures (pacemakers, ablations, EP studies), and structural heart cases (TAVRs, LAAOs, mitral clips, PFO closures)
Monitor and recover patients following vascular and thoracic procedures including carotid endarterectomies, bypasses, AAA repairs, lung resections, and EGD
Interpret cardiac rhythm strips and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 in pre-op and Phase 2, and 1:2 in Phase 1, collaborating with Perioperative Care Assistants as needed
Document all patient care accurately using EPIC EMR; participate in on-call rotation for weekends and holidays with a one-hour response time
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure (or compact licensure eligible in WV)
Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
Current BLS certification required
Current ACLS certification required
Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
Proficiency with or ability to learn EPIC EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
Cardiac nursing experience strongly preferred given high volume of cardiac and structural heart cases
Familiarity with CT surgery recovery patients including CABG, valve procedures, and LVAD patients
General awareness of respiratory therapy equipment and ventilator management concepts
