Key Responsibilities- Provide pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care to both adult and pediatric surgical patients across a high-volume, multi-floor surgical department supporting 34 operating rooms.
- Care for patients undergoing all major surgical services, including endoscopy, interventional radiology, pulmonary lab, and CT/MRI procedural cases.
- Assist with regional anesthesia and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) cases as needed.
- Float to pediatric PACU as needed, providing age-appropriate care across all patient populations.
- Operate specialized equipment including Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and AccuVein device.
- Maintain a 1:2 patient ratio and fulfill 2–3 scheduled weekend shifts per contract period.
Required Qualifications- Active RN license – Compact or Louisiana license required and must be in hand at time of submittal.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in PACU specialty (3 years preferred for this location).
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (AHA-issued certifications required).
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system.
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility address (as indicated on driver's license) — local travelers are not accepted.
- Current NURSYS report required, dated within 4 weeks of submission.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Background in PACU or Pre/Post-Op nursing; Critical Care Post-Op experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience caring for pediatric surgical populations in a pre-op or recovery setting.
- Familiarity with regional anesthesia protocols and high-acuity post-operative patient management.
