Perioperative / PACU Registered Nurse

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | Up to 40 hours per week | Onsite | On-call participation may be required with a 30-minute response time | Note: Hours may be reduced during weeks in which a recognized holiday falls on a weekday
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients throughout the pre-operative and post-anesthesia care phases, including conscious sedation and pre-admission testing
- Administer medications and IV therapies; manage airways and pain in the post-anesthesia recovery setting
- Identify and respond to changes in patient condition, including recognition and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Provide patient and family education related to surgical procedures and post-operative recovery
- Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia providers, circulating nurses, and other members of the surgical team
- Support perioperative care for patients undergoing orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT, and interventional pain-management procedures
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program
- Current Colorado RN license in good standing
- Current AHA BLS certification; ACLS and PALS certifications as required by the department
- Previous travel nursing experience required; no new graduates will be considered
- Previous Cerner EHR experience required
- Relevant experience in Pre-Op, PACU, perioperative, Emergency Department, or Intensive Care Unit settings
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage post-anesthesia patients and perform cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia identification
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience across multiple areas of the perioperative continuum, including pre-operative nursing, PACU, and conscious sedation
- Strong proficiency in IV placement, medication administration, airway management, pain management, and patient assessment
