Key Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate respiratory and cardiac status of patients awakening from anesthesia through continual assessment and monitoring
• Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician-authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice
• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, responding to call lights and alarms, and assisting with transfers
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with team members to update or revise care plans using current clinical information
• Process physician and provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
• Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications to ensure patient safety and comfort

Required Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (verified through LARA and/or Nursys)
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• Current skills checklist (within the last year) pertinent to PACU specialty required
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a high-acuity or trauma-level hospital environment
• Familiarity with Epic EMR
• Experience with post-operative care for patients undergoing advanced or minimally invasive surgical procedures
