Key Responsibilities
Provide routine and complex post-anesthesia nursing care utilizing the full nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education and identify appropriate resources.
Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to effectively manage the clinical situation.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of PACU or related nursing specialty experience required.
Active RN license in the state of Texas or a valid compact state license.
Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
Current ACLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
Current PALS certification required (American Heart Association only).
Ability to care for a diverse patient population including general, orthopedic, urology, ENT, cath lab, endoscopy, GYN, and pediatric patients (no neuro or cardiac cases).
Preferred Experience / Skills
Critical Care and/or Pre-Op nursing experience highly preferred.
Experience with EPIC electronic health records system strongly preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Prior experience in a perioperative setting or completion of a Perioperative RN Residency preferred.
