Key Responsibilities of the Postpartum RN:
* Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during the postpartum recovery period
* Monitor maternal and neonatal vital signs, physical assessments, and recovery progress following vaginal and cesarean deliveries
* Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed while monitoring patient responses
* Support breastfeeding by providing education, encouragement, and lactation assistance when appropriate
* Educate families on newborn care, postpartum recovery, infant safety, and discharge instructions
* Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or neonatal complications, escalating care when necessary
* Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver family-centered care
* Maintain accurate patient documentation in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based practice standards
Requirements:
* Minimum **1 year of recent Postpartum RN experience**
* Active **South Carolina RN license** or compact multistate RN license required
* Current **BLS and NRP certifications** required
* Experience caring for postpartum mothers and healthy newborns in an acute care setting
* Strong knowledge of maternal-newborn nursing practices, breastfeeding support, and newborn assessments
* Excellent communication, patient education, and critical-thinking skills
* Ability to provide compassionate, family-focused care in a fast-paced maternity environment
