Position Overview
San Juan Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Travel Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in the Pre-Op department. The RN will provide safe, efficient pre-operative care to a diverse patient population across all age groups.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and patient evaluations.
- Prepare patients for scheduled surgical and procedural interventions.
- Verify medical history, medications, allergies, consents, and required documentation.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition before procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Ensure appropriate pre-operative testing and preparation are completed.
- Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and pre-operative instructions.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EHR.
- Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.
- Provide compassionate care to patients across a diverse age range.

Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Previous Pre-Op / Preoperative nursing experience
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a hospital Pre-Op or Perioperative setting
- Experience caring for patients across multiple age groups
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Cerner EHR experience
