Minimum 1 year current acute care hospital PCU experience BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications Description: This position is for a Travel RN specializing in the Progressive Care Unit. The unit consists of 24 beds and has a well-structured staff roster. Typical staffing includes a Day Shift Charge, 4-5 RNs, and 2-3 PCTs, with a similar setup for the Night Shift. Patient ratios are 5:1. Equipment used on the unit includes telemetry monitoring and post-operative monitoring. The EMR system utilized is Meditech/CPN. The ideal candidate will have cardiac experience and prior familiarity with Meditech. Typical procedures performed in this unit include post-operative recovery of surgical patients as well as patients from the cath lab. This also includes post-operative orthopedic patients, such as spine and joint surgeries. The unit offers a friendly and outgoing environment. Teamwork is highly valued among staff. The unit is newly established with state-of-the-art facilities, including ADA/Bari rooms with Hoyer lifts. There is a strong emphasis on unit culture, collaboration, and team dynamics. The patient population is diverse, including elective orthopedic, spine, GYN surgeries, and elective cath lab procedures. Conditions treated include stroke, CIWA, chest pain, renal failure, respiratory failure, and more. Medications are administered via a set rate for cardiac drips, with few exceptions. A modified self-scheduling process allows schedules to be posted three weeks in advance. This gives staff ample time to arrange trades or adjust scheduling as needed.
