Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:30 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of experience in a step-down or similar unit required. Certifications must be held in hand at the time of application. Weekends are required. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience with charting systems is required. Experience with Epic charting system is necessary. Description: This position involves caring for patients in a step-down unit. You will monitor patients who require more intensive care than a general medical unit but less than an intensive care unit. The nurse will be responsible for assessing and managing patient conditions. You will work with various medical equipment and administer medications as prescribed. Experience with telemetry and cardiac monitoring is essential. Candidates must be prepared to float to similar units based on facility needs. The unit sees a daily census of approximately 25 patients, primarily adults and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, atrial fibrillation, sepsis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Interdisciplinary support is available, including therapy and pharmacy services. The work environment requires strong teamwork and communication skills. Candidates should be proficient in managing a range of medical procedures and protocols. Flexibility in scheduling and a willingness to assist as needed is expected.
