Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $1,876 per week in Bossier City, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of acute care nursing experience required; first-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EKG competency exam required prior to arrival Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a stepdown unit. The nurse will care for patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and DKA. Patient ratios will be RN: 1:3. The nurse must be proficient in management of central venous lines, Foley catheter management, tube feeding via NGT or PEG, arterial lines, and diabetes management. Drip titration experience with Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, or Insulin is preferred. Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who will take a patient assignment. There is no phlebotomy on the unit. IV/Vascular Access Team will assist with PICC and midline placements as necessary. A resource nurse is available, staffing dependent. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, along with hospitalist services. The charting system used is an electronic medical record system. IV pumps will be Alaris and medication dispensing is through Pyxis. Floating to other units may occur, including Medsurg with a ratio of 1:5-6. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend. Mandatory shifts will be 4 days one week and 3 days the next. Holidays require working 2 out of 3 major holidays. Professionalism is mandatory, which includes no cell phone usage in patient care areas, no earbuds, and no eating at the desk. Scrubs must be in specific colors, and T-shirts are required to be gray, white, or black with a designated monogram. Badges must be worn above the waist and visible at all times.
