Job Title: RN - Progressive Care Unit Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months PCU RN experience License: RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with traches Cardiac medication administration experience Cardiac rhythm interpretation Chest tube management Blood product administration Wound care and dressing changes Management of central lines Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit. This unit typically accommodates 32 beds. The patient population may include individuals with conditions such as congestive heart failure, dysrhythmias, chest pain workups, strokes, abdominal illnesses and infections, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, alcohol withdrawal, and intravenous drug addiction. The common nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, but it may adjust to 1:5 based on patient acuity. An LPN may assist with a ratio of 4:1. CNA support is available, with ratios of 1:12 during the day and 1:16 at night. There is a charge nurse available to assist with nursing care. Phlebotomy services are provided, with nurses drawing blood as necessary. A respiratory therapy team is available 24/7. Hospitalists and intensivists are also present around the clock. Telemetry monitoring is conducted at the bedside and at the nurses' station. Experience with electronic medical records is essential, specifically EMR. Knowledge of specific medical equipment, including IV pumps and medication dispensing systems, is required. Floating to different facilities within the region may be necessary based on operational needs. Schedule may involve weekend rotations and possible low census calls. Holiday work expectations include working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off may be approved up to six days, excluding holidays. The unit culture is family-oriented.
