Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $1,876 per week in Shreveport, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years PCU RN experience License: Required licensure as a Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EKG competency exam Description: The position requires experience in a Cardiac Stepdown unit. The nurse will manage patients post-surgery, including CABG and lung surgeries. Monitoring and intervention for patients with respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, and sepsis is essential. Skills in titrating cardiac drips, insulin drips, and vasopressors are required. Management of drains, chest tubes, and central lines must be demonstrated. Cardiac skills, including managing venous sheaths and temporary pacemakers, are preferred. Patient ratios will be 1:3-4. Support on the unit includes CNAs and resource nurses during the day shift. Unit secretaries are available during working hours on specific units. The charting system used will be Meditech Expanse, along with Alaris IV Pumps and Pyxis for medication dispensing. Schedule includes mandatory weekend rotations, with every other weekend required. The nurse will work four days one week and three days the next week. Holidays will require working two out of three major holidays. Scrub color will be pewter, with specific guidelines for T-shirts and jackets. Badges must be visible above the waist at all times.
