Must-Have: Travelers must have been separated from previous permanent staff position for 1 year
Description:
This position involves caring for patients in a stepdown unit.
The unit has a diverse patient population requiring a variety of medical interventions.
The traveler will be assigned a home unit during orientation.
Patient types include post-operative cardiac patients and patients with respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, and sepsis.
Required patient ratios are 1:3-4.
Travelers must demonstrate competency in EKG interpretation.
Skills needed include titrating cardiac and insulin drips.
Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomy care, central line management, and wound care is preferred.
Cardiac skills such as managing venous sheaths and temporary pacemakers are also beneficial.
Support on the unit includes nursing assistants, a unit secretary, and resource nurses.
Charting is conducted using an electronic medical record system.
Weekend rotation requires working every other weekend.
The schedule involves working 4 days one week and 3 days the next week.
Travelers are expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract.
Scrub color will be pewter, and appropriate t-shirts and jackets must be worn.
Badges must be displayed above the waist at all times.
