Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Patient ratio experience, charting system experience Description: Minimum experience of 1 year required. First-time travelers are not accepted. Patient population includes adults to geriatrics. The unit manages various diagnoses including GI Bleed, DKA, Stroke, TIA, Hypertension, NSTEMI, COPD, CHF, etc. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 with a census of 24 beds. Unit systems utilized include electronic medical records and medication dispensing systems. Scrub color required is navy blue. The maximum requested time off is 7 days. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend unless specified otherwise. Floating may be required within the facility or to a sister campus as needed. There are no call requirements. If assigned to work during a major holiday, the traveler is expected to work. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day. Full compliance required to start on time; failure to comply may result in a delay. Prior experience in travel positions is required. Skills required include blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and more. Additional support staff includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, and pharmacy. There is daily interdisciplinary support for patient care. Equipment used in the unit includes Bipap, Airvo, and bedside telemetry monitors. The daily census is 24 patients, with care focused on adults and geriatrics.
